MICHAEL ELKINS
CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Mr. Michael David Elkins 35 of Chapmanville, W.Va. departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017 at his residence. He was born on May 26, 1981 at Logan, W.Va., the son of David and Judy Ann O'Neil Elkins.
Michael was a 1999 Graduate of Chapmanville High School where he graduated 7th in his class, also receiving Special Honorable Mention All-State in Football, and Honorable Mention All-State in Basketball. He was a 2003 Graduate of West Virginia Tech where he received a degree in Civil Engineering. He attended church at Rocky Hill Freewill Baptist and West Logan Church of God. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad, son, and grandfather Sammy O'Neil and treasured time spent with his grandmother Lorraine O'Neil. He was a devoted fan of West Virginia University Football and Basketball. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Eunice Elkins, uncle, Doug Butcher, and special cousin, Robbie Collier.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his sister, Sammi (Josh) Dodrill of Chapmanville, son, Hayden Elkins at home, grandparents, Sammy (Lorraine) O'Neil of McConnell, niece Cameron Dodrill, nephew, Clay Dodrill, aunts and uncles, Terry (Karen) Elkins, Clarence (Helen) Elkins, Linda (Bob) Collier, and Mary Butcher all of Chapmanville, special cousins, Mark Collier, Brent Elkins, Chad Elkins, Kora Butcher McDonough, Sandy Smith, Kelli Elkins, special great-aunts, Betty Jo Hale and Doris Browning, great-cousin Kim Denune and a host of family and friends.
Services will be conducted at 2p.m. today at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville with Terry Elkins, Buddy Chapman and Scotty Dingess officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, W.Va..
Friends gathered from 6p.m. until 9p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville, W.Va.
