Harold W. Burke, a longtime resident of Elmsford, died March 6, 2000 at Phelps Memorial Hospital. He was 87. He was born December 10, 1912, in Tarrytown, the son of Patrick and Margaret Law Burke, raised in Tarrytown, a graduate of Irvington High School. Mr. Burke was a foreman at General Motors, Sleepy Hollow, for 40 years, retiring in 1973. On June 4, 1939, he married Anna Johnson at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Elmsford. He served as an usher at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and was a member of The Holy Name Society there. Formerly a member of the Knight's of Columbus, White Plains, Member of The Village of Elmsford Traffic and Safety Committee, Former Boy Scout Leader, avid fisherman, Elmsford Senior Citizens Group, Volunteer Member of Consolidated Engine Co., Pennybridge. Mr. Burke will be remembered for being a loving and devoted family man. Survivors include his wife Anna, 3 daughters, Barbara Blundell of Wilton, CT, Gail Yocis of Kent, NY, and Doctor Elaine Burke of Portland, Oregon, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a sister Kathryn McGrath and many nieces and nephews. Visitation Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm at McElroy-Flynn Funeral Home, Inc., Mass 10am Friday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Elmsford. Burial at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Donations preferred to The American Heart Association.
