John Patrick Harlan
Garnerville - John Patrick Harlan, of Garnerville, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2019 at the age of 87.
John was born in Nyack, NY to Edward and Josephine Harlan. He grew up in Sparkill, and graduated from Tappan Zee High School. After high school, he joined the John Paulding Fire Dept. before he entered the Navy in 1950, and served during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and was a proud veteran for the rest of his life. He was a member of the America Legion, Leo Laders Post 130, and the Carpenters Union #964. John was an avid golfer and loved going to Saratoga Race Track. He also loved family gatherings and spending time with his fishing buddies.
John is survived by his two loving daughters: Pat (John) Livsey and Linda (Michael) Connolly; his five beloved grandchildren and cherished great-grandchildren; his beloved sister Mary Clifford, and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his wife Louise, brother Edward, sister Anne Tedesco, and by his parents Edward and Josephine.
John's family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 4-8 PM at T.J. MCGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 133 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for John on Wednesday, April 24 at 10:30AM at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville, with interment to follow at Mt. Repose Cemetery.
Donations may be made in John's memory to Joe Raso Hospice, 415 Buena Vista Rd., New City NY 10956.
