Francis "Frank" Anthony Fitzpatrick, age 66, entered his eternal home in heaven on February 18, 2019, passing away peacefully at home after an eighteenth month battle with throat cancer. Love for his family and his unshakable belief in God gave him peace to leave his battle behind.
He was the youngest child of Francis Fitzpatrick and Loretta Lunning and the brother of Judi Calhoun and Gail Lyons. Frank was born a "New Yorker" on November 7, 1952 but became a "California boy" at 17 years old when he moved to California to attend college. He received his Bachelor of Science in Criminology from UC Berkeley followed by his Master's Degree in Public Administration from USC. In 1974, he was hired as a Criminalist in the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Crime Laboratory where he worked for thirty years, retiring in 2004 as the Laboratory Director.
After his retirement, Frank formed his own successful forensic consulting business where he provided national and international forensic agencies with training and assessments of their forensic quality systems.
Frank will be remembered by his family, friends and associates for his many admirable qualities. Frank was incredibly intelligent with a vast depth of knowledge in many subjects, but perhaps his most memorable trait was his sharp wit and often unexpected dry sense of humor.
Frank is survived by his wife of 10 years Maggie, or as he called her, "his everything." He is also survived by his daughter, Veronica; son, Frankie; his grandchild, Francis Charles "Charlie"; and his sisters Judi and Gail.
Frank's memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 21st, 1:00pm, at his church, Eastside Christian Church, 3330 E. Miraloma, Anaheim.
