PFEIFFER, DAVID ALLEN, 79, of Louisville, closed this earthly chapter of life and began his final chapter in the presence of his Heavenly Father on December 25, 2012, from severe head trauma suffered in a fall.
Born on August 15, 1933 in Louisville, David was a graduate of the old Male High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology degree from the University of Kentucky in 1955. After acceptance by the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacist that same year, David progressed his knowledge and experience through several pharmacy assignments prior to joining the Leatherman's Pharmacy in Buechel. In 1968, he became the sole owner and proprietor of Leatherman's, a fixture in the Buechel area, operating the business until the store closed permanently in 1991. David continued to serve the community and many of his loyal customers by becoming a pharmacist for the Winn-Dixie company, retiring from the business in 2003. A Christian, David was a member of Deer Park Baptist Church in the Highlands.
Well loved and respected by his family, friends and former customers, he will be sadly missed.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rudolph and Margaret Pfeiffer; his brother, Robert; and sister, Nancy.
David is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Dauenhauer Pfeiffer; and the children of his blended family: daughters, Shirley Sus Pfeiffer Lauterbach (Steve), Judy Pfeiffer Haas (Dan), Holly Pfeiffer Powell (Chuck) and Jenny Pfeiffer Kurk (Elliott); step-daughter, Denise Dauenhauer Cecil; and step-sons, David Dauenhauer, Doug Dauenhauer (Mary) and Donald Dauenhauer; His memory will also be cherished by his 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 3-8 p.m. Funeral service to be held at Deer Park Baptist Church, on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Deer Park Baptist Church, 1733 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY, 40205, in David's honor.

God Bless the Family. I just heard from June (Pfeiffer)Hunter a cousin to David, and Her father was William Pfeiffer.
I(Dian Maas Leezer) am the daughter of Vernon L. Maas, Sr. a cousin to David Pfeiffer. And his mother was Elsie Pfeiffer( Maas) Shanks. I remember my Dad saying when I was a young girl how much he greatly admired David as a friend. My Dad pass on October 18, 1990.

God blessed me with a wonderful father. I wish I didn't have to say goodbye, but hated to see you suffer. I look forward to the day we meet again. Life will not be the same without you, but I have many wonderful memories. I love you dad ! Love, Jenny

Many, many years ago, I worked for David at Strathmore Pharmacy on Poplar Level Road. I remember him as patient, kind and very dedicated to his work. Yes, I'm sure he will be missed.
