Grannie Annie was a joy to work with at the blood bank. Bright red hair, crazy socks,zebra-stripe shoes and brilliant wit. We miss you at the Old Biddies Gimlet Society meetings. The OBGS just isn't the same without you!

Anne was a bright spot in our Monday evening yoga classes. Her determination, laugh, smile and sharing of her experiences made us all better people. We truly have been blessed by an angel and her spirit will forever be a part of us all. God Speed Anne

"Queen" Anne, as I affectionately called her, and she loved it! She was my mentor, teacher, colleague, & most of all, a cherished friend. She could always tell a great story & laugh about the ones that she told on herself. What an infectious laugh! She was a compassionate woman & she had a sharp wit. When I think of Anne, I see that fiesty southern gal with wisps of red hair, twinkling eyes, & crazy socks; & sometimes standing with hands on hips ready to give someone a piece of her mind! We hated to see her leave Calif, but understood the reason & supported her. Little did any of us know that a far greater reason would arise for her to be near her family. I will miss the "Queen" and hearing her say to me, 'Listen missy', but know that I will see her again someday. Katie & Lee, I wish you the comfort of special memories. God bless you & your family.

Dear Katie, Lee Ann, and Alice,
Ann was born Sept.1, Jim Legg, Sept. 2, and I was born Sept. 3. We were all in the Fuller Gilliam Hospital nursery at the same time. I was so happy when she told me she was returning to live in Louisville upon retirement; and I was so unhappy when she wrote of her diagnosis. Our lives span over many decades; but, I will forever remember band trips, ballgames, and friendship. Two years ago, we both attended the MHS annual reunion and Lee Ann was there, also. She will fondly remain in my memory. God Bless her and may she rest in peace. Marilyn Mahan Blum

Dearest Annie,
The Mayfield High School class of 1955 will miss you. In particular, I will truly miss you. You had a penchant for getting the two of us into trouble and letting me figure my own way out. I remember a very early spring day, probably in 1952, when you dared me to climb over the fence at the Woolridge Monuments and put jonquils in the hands of all the statues. If i remember correctly, your job was to stand outside the fence, pass me jonquils and be the lookout. Anyone can predict what happened: After getting a few jonguils stuffed into concrete fists, the Mayfield Police Dept rounded the corner on patrol. Well, one of us was able to find a convenient gravestone to hide behind and one of us was just trapped inside the fence. For the years that we didn't see each other, i never heard of your further exploits, but i bet they are out there.....you won't be forgotten and you will be missed. Love, Joyce McClendon

I was so sorry to hear about Anne. I have fond memories of her coming to CHMA to dances and our dates. Anne was a day older than I and my neighbor all through school. My condolences to the family and that we share a loss together.

Twinkling eyes, a playful laugh, juicy stories, a passion for living life up front and a champion for honesty. An excellent and dedicated nurse and teacher, the best neighbor or co-worker you could ever have. A great friend and super story teller and quilts done with love and precision. She encouraged all of us to live life to the fullest, wear crazy socks, be late to work with a great excuse every time. Her California friends will miss her like crazy but I know she is entertaining and comforting those in the next world. Dance for Anne and be happy we got to know her.
