CLARKSVILLE - Collins, Billy Laure (Biscuits), formerly of Greenville, died peacefully at the age of 83 on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Kindred Wedgewood.
Billy was born in Dakota Block, KY, and raised in his beloved hometown of McRoberts, KY. Billy served his country in the US Air Force during the Berlin Airlift. He worked for K&I Railroad (Southern/Norfolk) for 38 years, retiring in 1991. Billy was a lifetime member of the Transportation Union & the VFW (Post 1693) as well as a member of the American Legion (Bonnie Sloan Post 28).
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mildred F. Collins; daughter, Pamela (Henize); and grandson, David James Collins. Billy is survived by his two sons, Will (Susan) and Bobby; a daughter, Lethia (Frank); two grandchildren, Daniel (Allison) and Christina (James); two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Megan; a brother, Ira Hurst (Delores); and a sister, Betty Jo Keadle.
Visitation for Billy will be Saturday, March 16, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). Funeral ceremony will be at 1 p.m. following the visitation with burial at Green Lawn Cemetery (Greenville, IN).
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Vista Care Hospice.
