SCALLY, CATHERINE "KATE," 91, of Louisville, passed away on November 19, 2012 with family by her side, after a long illness.

An inspiration to all who loved her, Kate was born in New Castle, KY, to Charles and Juanita Adams on July 23, 1921. She graduated from Atherton Girls High School. Kate is predeceased by her husband, John W. "Jack" Scally; and her four siblings.

She will be forever cherished in the memory of her daughter, Judy and granddaughter, Katie, both of San Jose, CA; and nephews, nieces and cousins.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the Hosparus team and to all her dear friends and neighbors whom she treasured. A special thanks to Drs. Charles Hornaday and Ignacio Montes.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 3042 Hikes Lane, with burial at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. on Friday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.

I'd like to extend my sincere sympathy to Judy and Katie Scally on the loss of their wonderful Mom and Nan. Although I knew Kate as the Mom of my good friend, Judy, Kate was also a friend to me and to all of Judy's friends. She was the rare combination, particularly in her era, of a professional woman and a totally involved Mother and homemaker for her family; a true role model of “doing it all” and doing it well. I so admired her calm demeanor, her intelligence and savvy, her tactfulness, her fashionable dress and exquisite taste. In the mind of this westerner, she was the ultimate Southern Lady. She was warm, funny, frank, well informed and had great intellectual curiosity. I always looked forward to her visits to California to see her family, as it gave me a chance to see her also. Knowing Kate in recent years was a lesson in how to age gracefully while making adjustments to accommodate the passing years. I think Kate touched everyone who knew her and represented a level of warmth, civility and decorum that is not often seen today. She is going to be greatly missed, but will live on in our hearts forever.
With love and sympathy to the Scally family,
Patty Houck

Rest in Peace Mrs. Scally, we never met but I had spoke with you so many years over the telephone, our last conversation was the first part of Oct. and even though you were in stage 3 you were still so sweet and upbeat about everything. God bless your family at this time.
