GARR, GEORGE ALBERT SR., 87, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.
He was the former owner of George Garr Painting and Wallpapering, a member of Holy Name Catholic Church where he was past president of the St. Vincent dePaul Society and a World War II Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Jean Odgen Garr.
He is survived by his sons, Joe Garr, George Garr Jr. (Mary), Richard Charles Skaggs (Diane) and James Sturgeon; daughter, Bonnie Robbins (Bobby); sister, Linda Pardieu; brothers, James Garr, Kenneth Garr, Johnny Garr and Donald Ray Garr; 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
His celebration of life Mass will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday at his church, 2914 So. Third St. with burial in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation 3-8 p.m. Friday at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Dr.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society.

I am truly sorry for your loss. George was a good man that took care of family and helped others in need. My sympathies go out to the entire Garr family. I am sorry that I was unable to attend the visitation or funeral.
