Chester W. Barnes

BARNES, CHESTER W., 86, Alamogordo, NM, passed away November 3, 2013 at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Barnes (nee Richman); and brother, Roger Barnes, Anderson, IN.

He leaves behind sister, Carol Carr, Columbia, TN; brother/his wife, Malcolm and Linda Barnes, Alexandria, IN; sister-in-law, Marjorie Barnes, Anderson, IN; son/his wife, Mark and Susan Barnes, Baton Rouge, LA; daughter/her husband, Anne and Bob Dollinger, Pembroke Pines, FL; and son/his wife, Dann and Ann Barnes, Alamogordo, NM; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Chester was born in Moonsville, IN. He graduated from Anderson High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Decorations include the Good Conduct, Asian-Pacific Theater, Army of Occupation, and World War II Victory Medals.

Chester was an avid gardener, family historian and accomplished musician.

Chester moved to Louisville, KY, retiring from Ford Motor Company after 31 years. After KY, he resided in Davie, FL; Slidell, LA; St. Simons Island, GA; Denham Springs, LA; and Alamogordo, NM.

Chester was a Louisville Mason and member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Alamogordo.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. November 14, 2013, at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, Daleville, IN.

The Barnes family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home. Cremation will take place at PCS.
