Clarence C. "Bossy" Thompson

THOMPSON, CLARENCE C. "BOSSY," 88, passed away at his home, peacefully in his sleep on Saturday October 24, 2009.

He was born April 2, 1921, in Owen County, KY, "Bossy" was the son of the late James P. and Mahala Thompson. He graduated from New Liberty High School and married his high school sweetheart, Mary Dell Bond on January 24, 1940, and later moved to Louisville in 1941. He retired from Naval Ordnance after 31 years of service.

Mary Dell and Bossy have been faithful members of Crescent Hill Baptist Church for 66 years, and he was a lifetime trustee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Rev. James Robert Thompson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary Dell Bond Thompson, devoted daughter, Linda Thompson Gunter (Robert); three cherished grandchildren; Bob Gunter, Lisa Lewis (John), Laura Keeling (Mike), was a doting great-grandfather to Jenna and Austin Lewis, Tate Edwards and Ryan Keeling.; sister, Bertha "B" Cummins; brother, Elwood Thompson (Katherine); sister-in-law, Martha Thompson; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews; and many longtime friends.

A service to Celebrate the life of Bossy will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crescent Hill Baptist Church, 2800 Frankfort Avenue, with interment in Wheatley Masonic Cemetery in Owen County. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Monday at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Avenue.
