Mark Gronotte Obituary

GRONOTTE, MARK DAVID, 35 of Louisville passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, was a St. X and U of L alumnus, earned a second degree black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do and was a former instructor and beloved "Ninja." Mark was an avid outdoorsman but what he loved the most was his family and his Lord Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Lewis Gronotte, their children, Molly Hope (4), Henry Mark (2) and Oakley David (1); parents, Betsy and David Gronotte; sister, Rebecca Ann Gronotte and father-in-law, David F. Lewis. Mark is also survived by many other family and friends.

Mark would want many to put their hope and trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior. Truly "to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21 A memorial service to celebrate Mark's life will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 in the chapel of Immanuel Baptist Church, 1121 S. I remember after St. X won the football state championship in '97, Mark "led the charge" to tear down the goalposts. He was joking, and it was funny. He will be missed.

I saw with great sadness Mark's obituary in the paper today. I was his teacher at St.X. He was one of those students who you are drawn to because of their wit, smile and humor. Mark was always an uplifting presence and full of life! His journey continues on and he is in a wonderful place beyond our imagination.

Mark will always be remembered for his energy, his smile and being mischeivious! It is my honor to have known him. David and Betsy your son will always live in my heart because he became an instrumental part in my life. He is a great young man. I am glad his relationship with God grew within the Baptist faith...Mark is in the hands of grace and will live in the hearts of all that met him.

I knew Mark back in St. X Theater. Talented, funny, and so easy going: he made quite an impression on me. Several years ago after running into one another, I found out he attended church around the corner from my church community. I know he lived a transformed life in Christ, seeking to glorify our Lord and savior...and all that I've read here seems to affirm that so many others fell the same. May the Lord's peace sustain you all, especially Anna, in your grief. My prayers are with you. I'm so sorry.

We'll remember Mark's beaming smile and zany sense of humor. He could connect with anybody and when he entered a room everything seemed happier and brighter. We will always remember his dedication to mentoring children in the basics of martial arts and his Spiderman routines. Most of all we saw and felt his deep devotion and love for his beloved wife Anna and his three wonderful children. Rest in peace, "Spidey".
