George Leo Erb

ERB, GEORGE LEO, 87, of Crescent Hill, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at his son's home in Greensboro, NC. Leo was a friend, father, Papaw, brother, uncle, husband, son and soldier. He was the son of Alice (Deane) Erb and George Ressler Erb. He was born July 14, 1919 on Wilson Avenue in Louisville. He graduated from Male High School in 1937. He then served in the United States Army from 1941-45. He was wounded in New Guinea, and received an Honorable Discharge with a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He retired from Dupont after 30 years of service. He was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a huge fan of The University of Kentucky. He is survived by his wife Lois Lindsey Erb; his son, Glen Leo Erb and daughter in law Janet Sutton Erb of Greensboro, NC; his grandson, Jeremy Lloyd Erb and granddaughter- in-law, Kerri Bryant Erb of Wilmington NC and grandson, Eric Benjamin Erb of Charlotte, NC. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Arch L. Heady- Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave., with interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is 1-7 p.m. Sunday.
