Albert Joseph Knabel

Louisville - 85, of Louisville passed away Friday, May 11, 2018. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean LaVerne (Schott) Knabel; a daughter, Candy Knabel Hall; and his parents, Urban and Theresa (Kiesler) Knabel.

He is survived by his daughters, Jean Slusher (John), Alice Knabel, and Bridget Babcock (Mark); sister, Sister Theresa Knabel, SCN; grandchildren, Angela Phillips, Rachel Buccieri (Dylan), William Babcock and Charles Babcock; and great-grandchildren, Trevon and Taleb Warren and Caroline Buccieri.

He was a 1951 graduate of St. Xavier High School. He retired from International Harvester where he worked as a computer programmer for 31 years. He was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps, a decorated combat veteran of the Korean War.

In his spare time, he enjoyed football, chess and playing on a trivia team with his family, often leading the team to victory. He was a lifelong devout Catholic and has been a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church for the past 45 years.

A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2018 at St. Raphael Catholic Church; 2141 Lancashire Avenue, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home; 3800 Bardstown Road.

Expressions of sympathy can be made in his memory to the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth.
