Desilets, Alfred Joseph,

87, of Highview died Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

A GE Apprentice graduate with 2 years Basic Engineering from the MIT's Lowell Institute, Alfred enlisted in the US Airforce in 1951, served during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant and Crew Chief/Flight Engineer for the 2nd Tow Target Group. In 1956, Al moved his family to Louisville, Kentucky where he worked at General Electric in the fields of Industrial Engineering; ranging from Production and Project Planning, Time Study, Purchasing, and Managing Production, retiring with 42 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, the Ann Fletcher Desilets; children, Elizabeth Peyton (Daniel), Geneva Klemann (Rick), Carolyn O'Daniel (Eddie), Donna Menzies(David), Brian Desilets (Vicki) and Jennifer Asher; grandchildren, Carrie, Carlie, Chad, Cassie, Natalie, Kendra, Diana, Eric, Maryann, Marshall, Adam and Tiffany; 12 Great Grandchildren; and his brother, Brian Desilets (Kay).

Funeral Mass is 10 am Saturday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7500 Tangelo Dr. with private burial in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY. Visitation is 2-8pm Friday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road.
