Carla Rueckert-McCarty Obituary

Rueckert-McCarty, Carla Lisbeth,

passed into larger life at home April 1, 2015.

Carla was born on July 16, 1943 in Lake Forest, IL. After living for two years in Clanton, AL, she and her family moved to Louisville, KY, where she resided for the rest of her life.

She was a 1961 graduate of the MacDuffie School for Girls in Springfield, MA. She attended the University of Louisville from 1962 until her graduation in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. In 1971, she received her Master of Arts in Library Science from Spalding College. She worked as a librarian for Kentucky Country Day and as an assistant librarian for the Speed Scientific School at the University of Louisville in 1967 and 1968 respectively. In 1970 she and Don Elkins formed L/L Research, a nonprofit organization, to purse her heart's passion: philosophy, metaphysics, and meditation.

She sang in the Louisville Bach Society for 37 years under the direction of Melvin Dickinson and in the choirs of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Calvary Episcopal Church, and St. Luke's Episcopal Church for her whole life. She married James McCarty on May 30, 1987 and enjoyed 28 years of married life.

She was an author of a number of books in the fields of meditation, spirituality, and the ancient wisdoms. She was also a well-known and respected medium and as such channeled THE LAW OF ONE series of five books.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ted Rueckert in 1989; and her mother, Jean Rueckert, in 1991.

She is survived by her husband, James; her brothers, Tommy and Jimmy; her cousin, Carlos, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her memorial service will be 7 p.m. on April 17, 2015 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1206 Maple Lane, Anchorage, KY. A reception will follow also in St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
