Clayton Edward Schulz

Louisville - 89, passed away surrounded by family Saturday, May 12th at his home.

He was born in Wyandotte, MI on April 17, 1929 to the late August and Lenna Schulz. Clayton was a retired engineer from the Ford Truck Plant.

Throughout his life, he was a writer, artist, jazz musician playing the upright bass since the age of 15. He was a lover of all animals, especially his cats. On May 5th of this year, Clayton celebrated his 40th anniversary with AA. He influenced and sponsored many people over the years in helping them gain their sobriety.

Clayton was an avid golfer, a member of MENSA and a voracious reader. Many people considered him a true Renaissance man. It was very important to him that he cared about others and that he lived a life where he made a positive difference.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years Ruth in 2004.

Survivors include his daughters, Karin Soltau (Joern) and Nancy Lawrey (Chris); five grandchildren, Sara (Dan), Lenna, Carl, Amelia and Dustin (Kaylah) and 4 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Highland Presbyterian Church, 1011 Cherokee Road, Saturday, May 19th at 2 p.m. Following the service, all are welcome to gather and share memories at the Soltau Farm, 4300 Glenarm Rd., Crestwood, KY 40014. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Shamrock Foundation or to Hosparus. Ratterman and Sons on Bardstown Road is entrusted with the arrangements.
