Clinton McGill Harris ("Clint")

Louisville - 93, died August 3, 2018.

Clint was the fifth child of Ruth Douglas Harris and Paul Fontaine Harris, Jr., born October 1924. Raised in the Crescent Hill area of Louisville, he attended Male High School and was an Eagle Scout in Troop One based at Crescent Hill Methodist Church.

Clint had a most interesting life, enlisting in the US Army at age 17 to enter Ski Patrol training in Colorado. He also served in France as a Paratrooper, an MP, and for a time minded the military carrier pigeons.

After his return, Clint became interested in dog training. He and his first wife, Billie Ed Williams Harris opened Waggin' Tail Kennels in Oldham County, eventually moving the business of boarding, training, and grooming to Louisville. Clint was a Professional Dog Handler for decades winning the Westminster Kennel Club in two consecutive years in 1971 and 1972 with a Springer Spaniel bred by is sister, Ann H. Roberts. He then worked as an all breed judge for decades both nationally and internationally before retiring in 2012. Through the years Clint enjoyed fishing, golf, jokes, and big stories.

Clint was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Joan Hall Harris. He is survived by a sister, Mary Lee Hendee of Chagrin Falls, OH. He leaves 3 children: Barbara (Terry) Johnson of Nicholasville, R. Blake (Gwen) Harris of Louisville, and Natalie (Harry) Mobley of Ann Arbor, MI, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He leaves many special friends in the dog community and also best buddies Janet and Darrell Mabley.

A celebration of his life will be planned for October 27, 2018.
