Douglas, Cynthia Irene Barney,

passed away October 6, 2017 at Norton Audubon Hospital.

She was born in Chicago to Mary E. Barney and the late Walter B. Barney.

A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Eastern Kentucky University, Cyndy subsequently earned a Masters in Elementary Education at the University of Louisville.

Cyndy treasured her memories and friends with the Komen Group, Bellarmine University, University of Kentucky, SMS, the Louisville Visitors Center, Mothers Night Out, and the children , parents and teachers at the Temple Early Childhood Education Center where she taught for over 20 years. Cyndy took great pride in knowing her kindergartners were very ready for 1st grade and beyond.

Left to cherish Cyndy's beautiful spirit and the love and kindness she gave to all she met are her loving husband, Scott A. Douglas; devoted son, Sean Michael Barney-McCoy; mother, Mary Barney; sister, Carole Keel (Tracey); brothers, Robert (Sherri), John (Leigh Ann), Walter "Web" (Alison Davis); numerous nieces and nephews, and her cats, Lily and Charlie.

A Celebration of Cyndy's life will take place at the Mellwood Art Center, 1860 Mellwood Ave, Louisville, 40206 on Wednesday, October 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. A private family burial will take place at Cave Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Cyndy's name may be made to the Kentucky Humane Society, 241 Steedly Drive, Louisville KY 40214 or to the donor's . Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road "in St. Matthews" has been entrusted with arrangements.
