Louisville - David Stoner Abell, 90, died September 9, 2018 at his home in Louisville, KY. Born October 23, 1927 in Louisville, KY, he graduated from Manual High School in 1945 and attended U of L. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and a member of Deer Park Baptist Church, where he met his bride of 65 years at a Valentines Party. He volunteered with the Civil Defense Rescue Squad and worked for General Motors, after which he began his own business, Abell TV and Appliance, in Jeffersontown KY, which he owned and operated for 30 years. He had a natural ability for fixing things and was a member of the "Rough Riders" at Deer Park who helped maintain the church building for many years. His hobbies included collecting various things like tools and clocks, enjoying a good meal, donating over 24 gallons of blood to the Red Cross, and giving away butterscotch candies.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Jean Sipes Abell; his daughters Nancy Abell and Janet Abell, his son Larry Abell and daughter- in-law Ann Hulette Abell; step sister Anna Abell and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Stoner Abell and Lena May Abell Comstock.

Visitation will be held at The Forum at Brookside, Friday September 14, 2018 from noon to 1:30 pm. A memorial service will be held at Deer Park Baptist Church on September 15th at 11am with visitation one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be at a later date.
