Reverend Emmet Linden C.P. Obituary
Linden, C.P., Reverend Emmet,

Reverend Emmet Linden, C.P., 95, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2017 at Nazareth Home.

He had been living in retirement at the Passionist Community adjacent to St. Agnes Parish since 2009. A native of Chicago. Illinois, he entered the Passionist minor seminary in Normandy, Missouri in 1938. He professed his first vows as a Passionist on July 9, 1944 and was ordained to the Catholic priesthood on May 19, 1951.

As a member of the Passionist Community, a missionary order, he was attracted to the missionary life but soon found his life focused on the parish ministry in which he invested himself over the years. Fr. Emmet served as associate pastor and pastor at St. Agnes Parish and later at St. Rita Parish in Louisville. He also served at parishes in Chicago and Detroit. He related well to the youth as he did to older folks, establishing lasting relationships with friends of all ages. He was an avid fisherman, which he enjoyed over the years with a group of like-minded sportsmen on the lakes of Canada. This interest was likely inspired by the gospel accounts of fishing on the part of Jesus' apostles.

Fr. Emmet was preceded in death by his parents, Matthias and Catherine (Volz) Linden and two brothers, John and Ralph Linden.

He is survived by his sister, Dolores Carroll of Hinsdale, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Dr. Jane Cornett and the staff at Nazareth Home for their compassionate care for Fr. Emmet during his final days.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road, starting at 4:00 P.M. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M.. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Agnes Church. Interment will be in the Passionist section of All Saints Cemetery in Des Plains, Illinois.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Passionist Community, 1924 Newburg Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40205.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Bosse Funeral Home.
