Fonda Vernelle (Morris) Cook

1930 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Fonda Vernelle (Morris) Cook Obituary
Cook (nee Morris), Fonda Vernelle,

passed quietly at home surrounded by her daughters on October 6, 2017. She was born August 16, 1930 in a log cabin to Roy and Escola Morris in Renfrow, Kentucky. She was one of nine children and was a twin to Wanda Martelle Morris.

She was a member of the Eastland Church of Christ and lived a life that reflected her faith. She was the greatest example of generosity, love, compassion, devotion, hard work, integrity and a steadfast commitment to being a light in this world. Even when faced with raising four children alone, under very difficult circumstances, her bedrock of faith never wavered.

She worked at Continental Air Filter for many years and retired from Dust Control Equipment (DCE) in 1995. She loved gardening and grew a variety of flowers but was especially well known for her beautiful Pink roses. She was a gifted country cook and you never left her home hungry. In retirement she loved traveling and quilting but her greatest joy was spending time with family. Family ties meant everything to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Escola Morris, brothers Loriece and Paul Morris, sisters, Deverrille Morris, Pauline Henderson, Laverne Hostetler, Wanda Martelle Morris (twin), Barbara Hurt, Viola Morris, and son Roger Dale Cook. She is survived by her daughters Vickie Cook, Judy Cook, Kathy Cornett (Wayne), daughter-in-law Gayle Cook Loween, grandsons Joseph and Grant Cook, Alex Cornett (Cece), sister-in-law Carol Morris Fauth and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved as her own.

Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road, Middletown, Kentucky is handling the arrangements. Visitation is Saturday 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm EST and funeral Sunday 1:30 p.m. at Rattermans. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery (HWY 505) in Horse Branch, Kentucky 5:30 p.m. EST Sunday.

Donations may be made to the or Eastland Church of Christ.
