Glen Leo Bonsett, 93, was born in Scott County, Indiana on July 29, 1924 and left us on August 22, 2017. He died peacefully at River Terrace Health Campus in Madison, IN. A service celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM Monday, August 28th at Scott Funeral Home,

2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN. Friends may call from 1 PM until time of service at the funeral home.

Dad grew up on the family farm with his brothers and attributed his values and love of the outdoors and rural living to his boyhood on that 3-generational farm. In 1942 he enrolled at Hanover College then enlisted in the Navy and attended Berea College, KY, as part of the V-12 Program. He was a proud veteran with 3 ½ years of active service, continuing with the

Naval Reserves, attaining the rank of Commander.

He earned his BS. MS, and Doctorate from Indiana University and joined the Hanover College faculty in 1953 where he taught, coached, directed Health Services, and worked in the administration as Dean of Men and Vice President for Development through the years. He had noteworthy success as coach of Track and Field, inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001. Known as a mentor to many, dad often used teachable moments and inspired individuals to achieve their maximum potential in all areas of their lives, as he expected of himself. He was a motivational and special events speaker, always enjoying a good story and a laugh.

Dad was active in his church and community. He served on numerous boards and agencies, conducted seminars on leadership development, and enjoyed sharing his expertise about charitable gift planning.

He was pre-deceased by wives Betty Jo Shuck and Melba Wilkerson Bonsett. Survivors include daughters Sandi Webster (Jack), Andrea Tarpley (Bill), Candi Gray (Marc) and stepchildren Debbie Stevens (Chuck) and Tony Wilkerson. In addition, he had 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
