In the spirit of celebrating a beautiful life, the family hereby announces the death of Helen Bartter Crocker, 88, who died as a result of pancreatic cancer on August 27, 2017. Helen was singer, artist, historian, teacher, wife, mother, grandmother, family, and friend. She was born in Columbia Station, Ohio, on July 30, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Milford Bartter and Edna Bracy Bartter and the wife of the late Kenneth Wayne Crocker. Helen and Ken raised six boys in Franklin then built a house on Barren River Lake where they continued their life together until Ken died in 2004. Helen painted and enjoyed local art shows. Helen is survived by her second husband Charles Alston of Fountain Run; her children: Scott and his wife Tricia, and Ben and his wife Cyndi, all of Bowling Green; Kelly and his wife Lina of Lexington; Dan and his wife Roni, Tim and his wife Janet all of Franklin; Steve and his wife Heidi of Huntington Beach, CA; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Roland Bartter of Detroit and Charles Bartter of Loraine County, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held at Franklin Presbyterian Church at 2 pm on Saturday, September 2. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Simpson County Board of Education for the Crocker Park, 430 South College Street, Franklin, Kentucky 42134. J.C. Kirby and Son, Lovers Lane Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
