Towson, MD - On September 9, 2018, Henry (Hank) David Altman, Republican. Born May 13, 1932 in Queens, New York.

Son of deceased parents Joseph and Elizabeth Altman; Brother to deceased Joseph, David, and sister Dorothy Herold. Beloved husband of 65 years to his high school sweetheart Sara; devoted father of six wonderfully talented children; Joseph, Captain William, Dr. Elizabeth, Mary R.N. Supervisor, Henry AlA, and Master Sgt. John U.S. Army; proud grandparent of seventeen grandchildren: Steven, Suzanne, Jennifer, Karyn, Megan, Billy, Emily, Victoria, Justin, Austin, Alaina, Paige, Kristen, Hope, Henry, Brooke and Cady and five great-grandchildren: Aydan, Kayla, Dylan, Brody, and Samuel.

Sailing for extended vacations to Cape Cod on his 34ft C&C, fishing in Montauk, North Shore, and Great South Bay on his 21ft Breton Whaler "LIZ'; canoeing, hunting, shooting, Ham Radio (k2olx), recording, scuba, classical & country music, photography and camping were a few of his passions accompanied by and passed on to his children. Hank, Sara and the children converted a school bus to a handsome and comfortable motor home and with his family visited Alaska, California, Florida and the Adirondacks on his 9 week sabbatical vacations. Many friends were made on the road.

Attended P.S 70, Bryant High School, CCNY, RCA Institutes and Capitol Radio. Employed for one year with I.B.E.W. Local 3 electricians union and for 45 years as LU 1212 engineer with CBS Labs, CBS construction shop, CBS videotape department and retired as Engineering Supervisor of CBS Records remote recording; Henry served 16 years with New York Army National Guard, graduated OCS and honorably discharged as 1st Lt. Bn. Communications Staff Officer.

His esteemed recording credits included the New York Philharmonic, Boston, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Toronto and Israel Philharmonics, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Notable conductors Henry worked with over the years were Bernstein, Ozawa, Szell, Essa Peka Salanon, Ormandy, and others. His favorite soloists included Isaac Stem, Pinkus Zuckerman, Eugene Istoman, E. Power Biggs and others.

Together with his wife of 65 years, Henry raised his children in West Islip, NY where he shared two of his passions; fishing and sailing. He retired with Sara to Georgetown, IN for 23 years before recently relocating to Towson, MD. He was active in the Boy Scouts and wildemess camping. These activities instilled an interest in the natural world that lives on through his children and grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received at Ruck Funeral Home, 1050 YorkRd. Towson, MD. on Friday Sept 14, 2018 2pm- 4pm, 6-7pm. Funeral service to follow at 7:00pm.
