Jack R. Swisher Obituary
Swisher, Jack R.,

Jack R. Swisher, 95, passed away September 10, 2017, after a long stay in Personal Care at Lexington Country Place. Jack loved people. He was gentle, generous, gregarious, and humble, and loved to give things away. Meeting new people and learning their names and astrological signs gave him great joy. Jack was an avid gardener and served the public as a Master Gardener. He was an early supporter of the Good Foods Co-op and lovingly gave away blue Co-op shopping totes to friends and acquaintances.

Jack grew up in Whitesburg, Ky. He was a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was trained as a fighter pilot. He worked at The Bank of Whitesburg and later was a life insurance salesman with Equitable, and a CLU in Lexington, Ky.

Jack was preceded in death by his sister Yarlett, his wife Doris, and his son Scott. He is survived by his daughters Rebecca Swisher (Mary Ann Bosworth) and Marian Swisher (Larry Clements), his son Paul Swisher (Anne), his nephew John Swisher (Angie), his grandchildren Alison, Isabelle, and Matt, six great-grandchildren, and many dear friends.

Jack bequeathed his body to the University of Kentucky and requested no funeral. The family will plan a celebration of Jack's life in the spring. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Jack's name to KET or the Lexington Arboretum.
