Janet Grunbeck Munson Obituary
Munson, Janet Grunbeck,

Janet Grunbeck Munson passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 10th in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 93. She was born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut and had four siblings, George, Marie, Danny and Peggy. Although she lived in PA, SC and NY, Janet lived in Louisville, KY, the longest (52 years total at different times). After her husband's death, Janet, and her son Pat, moved to Arizona to be close to family. She was a parishioner of Saint Bernadette Parish (formerly Mother of Good Counsel).

Janet graduated from New Haven State Teachers College (now known as Southern Connecticut State University) with a degree in education. She also attended graduate school classes at Columbia University in NYC. She was very appreciative of the support of her parents, George and Amelia Grunbeck, who enabled her to get a college education following the Great Depression.

Janet devoted her life to her husband of 62 years, Edward L. Munson, who preceded her in death in 2011. Ed was a purchasing manager at General Electric.

She was dearly loved by her seven children: Janet Mary Munson (Will Tilley), Jackie Colucci, Edward L. Munson Jr. (Karen), John Munson (Traci), Patrick Munson, Mike Munson (Angel), and Mary Ellen LaRose (Steve). She had 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A funeral Mass and celebration of Janet's life was held on September 16th in Tucson. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville, KY at a later time.

Memorial gifts in her honor may be sent to St. Cyril of Alexandria School at 4725 E. Pima St., Tucson, AZ, 85712.
