Janice Carol (Petter) Fowler Obituary
Fowler, Janice Carol (Petter),

64, of Louisville, died peacefully surrounded by family on August 28, 2017 ending her hard-fought courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Janice was born in Louisville, KY on August 31, 1952. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Earl Petter. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Denny; daughter, Marissa Martin (Chris); son, Bryan (Jenna); and grandson, Aiden, the love and joy of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Dena Kent (George); brothers, Bill (Mike Berry), John (Sandy). Bobby (Joni), Lonnie (Laura) and Michael (Herb Armstrong); fifteen nieces and nephews; seventeen great nieces and nephews.

Janice attended Assumption High School, Class of 1970 where she was captain of the bowling team, member of the student council and voted, "Most Friendliest" her senior year, all of which enabled her to cultivate life-long friendships. Upon graduation, she worked in the food distribution business; A & P Groceries and A. J. Seibert as a buyer. Later, she was office manager at the Kevco Construction Company. However, her favorite career choice was working with kindergarten students at St. Bernard School. Janice taught as she believed, "Every child is made in the image and uniqueness of God". Only coaching girls' softball teams rivaled her love of little ones.

Janice's life was devoted to God, family and community. As a member of St. Bernard's Church for 40 years, she facilitated the Children's Sunday Liturgy, assisted with the School's Book Bee and coached the girls' softball team for many years. She volunteered for many parish functions and Highview Ministries. She cherished every family event, supported all the children's endeavors and faithfully cheered on Trinity's football and athletic teams. Unusual, as she was, Janice was an avid UK/U of L sports fan.

She enjoyed reading, fishing, spending time at their cabin on the lake, attending sports events and vacationing/traveling with family and friends. When her friends described her, it was most often said, "Every bone in her body is sweet."

Our family would like to thank Dr. Cervera, Dr. Parker and their staff at Norton Cancer Institute as well as Hosparus of Louisville and all the friends, neighbors and prayer trees without whose help we could not have made it through this difficult time.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday, August 31, 2017 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 - 8 PM on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road.

Donations may be made to Hosparus of Louisville in her memory. Online condolences may be directed to
