John Francis "Jack" Leitsch Obituary
John Francis "Jack" Leitsch

Louisville - age 82 unexpectedly passed away on August 7, 2018.

Jack served more than 30 years with the Kentucky Army National Guard. After retiring, he worked at St. Xavier High School and Joseph E. Ratterman & Son Funeral Home. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and the St. Xavier Alumni Association.

Jack Leitsch was a beloved fixture of Louisville's South End. Jack, who never met a stranger, seemed to be everywhere all the time, and was truly loved by all. What set Jack apart, however, was the fact that he seemed totally content. He didn't come from a lot, never had a lot, but never seemed to want more. His family and friends were all Jack needed to be happy, and he laughed every day of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ann Leitsch; wife, Joan Van Natta; daughter, Stephanie; brother Richard "Dick" Leitsch; sister, Laurene Dupps; and daughter in law, Jamie Leitsch.

He is survived by his son, John F. Leitsch, II; daughter, Judge Anne Haynie (Judge Hugh Smith Haynie); daughter, Antoinette "Toni" Leitsch, son, Joseph A. Leitsch; sister, JoAnne Williams; grandchildren, John III, Jacob and Kathryn and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom he dearly loved.

The funeral Mass is at 10 am on Monday, August 13th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 7335 Southside Dr., with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, August 12th 2pm-8pm at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son Funeral Home, 7336 Southside Dr..

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Xavier High School or Presentation Academy tuition assistance programs.
