Gates, Mary Pat Tuke,

Louisville, passed away on August 25, 2017, at the age of 95.

She was born November 28, 1921 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the oldest daughter to the late John Henry Tuke and Gertrude Hoppe Tuke. Mary attended Summit Country Day Grade School, Mount Notre Dame Academy High School, and Edgecliff College (now Xavier University) all in Cincinnati.

Mary married the love of her life, William Allman Gates, Jr. in June, 1948 and moved to Louisville in 1953. She has been a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church since 1953 and volunteered for many Catholic organizations through the years. She was know for her staunch views on religion and politics and crafting a few of her own rules along the way!!

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Allman Gates, Jr.; grandson, Evan Lee Gates; brothers, Joseph and Fred Tuke; and sister, Barbara Kane.

She will be greatly missed by her 5 children, Dr. Will Gates (Lynne) in Lexington, Ky.; Sally Sulieman (Samir, MD) in North Little Rock, Ar.; Mary Tuke Klemmt (Pierce, Rev) in Alexandria, Va.; Jeff Gates (Diane) in Louisville, Ky.; and Terry Gates in Richmond, Va. Mary is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Westport Place for their excellent care.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m., Friday, September 22, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Rd, St. Matthews, Ky. 40207 with a reception to follow.

Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, "in St. Matthews," was entrusted with arrangements.
