Richner Akins "Richey" Belonger Obituary
Belonger, Richner "Richey" Akins,

Richner "Richey" Akins Belonger, 59, of Watkinsville, GA, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2017 after a lengthy battle with respiratory illness.

A native of Louisville, KY, Richey attended Ballard High School. She later earned an associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy from Armstrong State College while residing in Savannah, GA. Soon after graduating, the family relocated to Watkinsville where Richey pursued her true passion - buying and selling antiques and collectibles. She opened About Nostalgia where she was the talk of the historic downtown and enjoyed great success.

During the worst of times, Richey didn't burden others with her plight, she simply fought on in silence. She had an unbridled spirit and lived every day on her own terms. Her sense of humor and quick wit will be sorely missed as she frequently made all those around her laugh and enjoy the moment. Richey was and will always be a true treasure.

Loved ones left behind include Richey's husband and best friend Paul, daughter Ryan Galt (Jordan), sons Jim Magill (Michelle) and Phil Drieci, grandchildren Knox, Kylie and Rocco, mother Jenny Akins, sisters Mary Ann Walcott (Jon Stafford) and Beth Akins (Jim Schork), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Akins, and sisters Cindy and Caroline.

A celebration of her life was held with close friends and family in Louisville KY on August 30, 2017.

Richey always felt the pain of those in distress. If you're so moved, please donate in her memory to the American Red Cross or a charity of your choosing to assist those affected by Hurricane's Harvey and Irma.
