Stanley E. Logsdon Obituary
Logsdon, Stanley E. ,

85, passed away peacefully Monday August 21st in the Palliative Care unit at Baptist East Hospital.

Stan was a 1951 graduate of Manual high School, and then served his country in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 as a radio operator. Stan then attended the University of Kentucky with a major in Radio Communications, and played trombone in the UK Wildcats marching and concert band. Stan was a Mason and Member of the Scottish Rite 33rd degree. He obtained his pilots license in 1981 and retired from the Courier Journal after 30 years in 1987.

Stan was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Evelyn Rita Logsdon, whom he lovingly became caregiver to in her last decade of life. After caregiving for his wife, at age 72 Stan became impassioned with the study of medicine and pursued a degree in nursing.

Stan will be remembered as the man who never met a stranger and lit up a room with his kindness. Stan is survived by his wife Evelyn Rita's children and grandchildren, Marilyn, Lauren and Wes Parker, Larry and Matt Best and Brandon and Camron Detoma, and many many friends who were such a large part of his life.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 9:00am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243) with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
