70 of Louisville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 2, 2017.

Tom was born February 4, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of the

late (William) Kenneth Smith and Mary Julia Smith. He was preceded in

death by both

He was a graduate of Seneca High School is 1966 and attended Jefferson Community College in 1971.

After graduation from High School, Tom joined the United States Army in 1966 serving as a combat ranger until he was severely wounded in action earning a Purple Heart Medal and eventual Honorable Discharge in 1968.

Tom was a retired Missile launcher coordinator for the Naval Ordnance Plant in Louisville. Previously, he worked for over a decade at General Electric Appliance Park. He is a valued member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and longtime member of Zoneton Masonic Lodge #964 and Kosair Shrine Temple.

He is survived by two daughters, Lindsey Gorman of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Rachel Smith of Atlanta, Ga. Also a nine year old grandson, Alex Gorman, of Winston Salem. His ex wife is Sharon Smith, Retired executive R.J. Reynolds (Brown & Williamson).Tom has two sisters Mary Ann Smith and Elizabeth (liz) Smith. He remained very proud of his Lebanese heritage as well.

Tom's funeral service will be held at Noon, Wednesday, October 11th, 2017 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 930 Ormsby Ln, with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at the same site.

Tom will be interred in Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery Central in Radcliffe with full Military Honors. A lunch will be served at a local Radcliff restaurant immediately following the military internment service....

In lieu of flowers it is suggested that contributions be made in Tom's name to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
