Rev. William J. Martin, Jr. , 72, Fr. Martin passed away peacefully at Nazareth Home on July 26, 2017 after an over 20 year graceful battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Fr. Martin was preceded in death by his father and mother, William J. Sr. and Marie E. Martin and brother, Thomas E. Martin.

He is survived by his sister, Marie M."Terry" Frederick; brother-in-law, Richard L. Frederick; niece, Brianna M. Johnson (Brandon) and nephews, Kyle T. Frederick (Stacey) and Evan L. Frederick (Lauren). In addition, he is survived by five great-nieces and nephews, Annabelle and Eastin Johnson and Rhys, Eli and Liam Frederick. He also is survived by his eight Zoeller cousins, Kathy, Michael, Steven, Jean, David, Mary, Matthew and Greg and their families.

"Good Bill" leaves behind many extended family members, friends and parishioners who loved and admired him for his gentle ways and kind heart. He will be sorely missed by all. Fr. Bill was a Roman Catholic priest in the Archdiocese of Louisville for the past 46 years. He served as Deacon at St. Francis of Assisi; Associate Pastor at St. Helen; Associate Pastor at St. James in Elizabethtown; Secretary of Senate of Priests (Priests Council); Associate Pastor at Holy Spirit; Director of Permanent Diaconate; Pastor at St. John the Apostle in Brandenburg; Peer Group Representative on Clergy Personnel Board; Pastor of St. Rita and Pastor of Our Mother of Sorrows.

A special thanks to Dr. Jane Cornett and all the staff at Nazareth Home where Fr. Bill has resided for the past seven years. Their care and kindness will not be forgotten.

Visitation will take place at the Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison Avenue at Barret Avenue on Sunday, July 30, 2017 between 2:00 and 8:00 P.M..

Visitation will again take place between 9:00 and 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 31, 2017 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 8709 Preston Highway, with Fr. Bill's funeral Mass and a celebration of his life taking place immediately afterward at 11:00 A.M.. The burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Donations can be made in made in Fr. Martin's name to the National Parkinson Foundation or Catholic Charities.
