POTTER, BETTY ANN, 87, of Crescent Hill, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at the Nazareth Home, where she was lovingly cared for. She was born in Cincinnati, OH. Her family moved from Northern Kentucky to the West End of Louisville, where she graduated from Shawnee High School in 1938. She graduated from University of Kentucky in 1940 with a degree in Medical Technology. She earned her Master's in Biochemistry from University of Louisville. Betty Ann worked on medical research and surgical teams, operating a blood perfusion machine, she helped to invent and build. She was a part of the first pediatric open-heart surgery in Kentucky in 1958 at the Children's Hospital. Betty Ann retired from working with Dr.'s Lansing, Girardet, Masri, Barbie, Attum and Yared, of the Humana Heart Institute International in January 1992, after 30 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse W. and Caroline Pfingstag Potter; and her "surrogate son," Richard Sellers. She is survived by her "surrogate family," Barbara Allen, Emily and Timonthy Sellers; and her cousins, Carol L. Burch and Alberta "Bea" Sullivan. A service, to celebrate Betty Ann's life, will be held 3 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Crescent Hill Baptist Church, 2800 Frankfort Avenue, with private interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger, KY. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home. Expressions are requested to the memorial fund of her church.
