Patricia Hamberry Shryock Obituary
SHRYOCK, PATRICIA HAMBERRY, Our mother passed away on Saturday, May 17. She was 81 years old.

Pat was born in Louisville, KY, and was the daughter of Loretta Moll Hamberry and James P. Hamberry, and sister to Suzanne.

She grew up in the Highlands and graduated from St. James Grade School and Sacred Heart Academy. She received her Medical Technology degree from the University of Louisville and was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.

Pat worked at St. Joseph Infirmary Hospital. During that time she married Arthur M. Shryock and was a devoted and loving wife to him for 44 years until his passing in 1998.

Pat and Art had six children. For a number of years Pat stayed at home to raise their kids. She later returned to work in the 70's, and worked for the Family Practice and Student Health Departments at the University of Louisville for 25 years.

Pat was a volunteer at the Bon Air Library, helped to serve Senior lunches with Highland Ministries, and sang in the choir for St. Pius Church.

She was a kind, giving, strong, independent, spunky woman full of personality that loved to be around people.

Pat loved to read, play bridge, travel, and work in her flower garden. She was an excellent cook who loved to host dinner parties for family and friends, especially during the holidays. She also enjoyed a good Manhattan.

Most of all Pat loved her family. She loved her children unconditionally and she loved being a grandmother.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents Loretta and James; and her husband, Arthur.

She is survived by her six children, Debbie Sandifer (Rick), Vickie Vukcevich (Mark), Mark Shryock (Debbie), Kimberly Shryock, Drew Shryock, Stacia Shryock; grandchildren, Nicholas and Daniel Vukcevich, Katherine Shryock; stepgrandchildren, Tiffany Boeckmann (Rick), Scott Sandifer (Beth Long), Ty Sandifer (Jaime); seven step-great-grandchildren; her very special sister, Suzanne Higgins (David); sister-in-law, Janey Shryock Lybarger, and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to all the staff at the Nazareth Home, in particular to Charity Court, for the loving care shown to our Mother during her time there. Thanks to Hosparus for all their support during our Mom's final days.
