Obituary Condolences

CORNISH, KENNETH M., 93, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2014 at Oaklawn Health and Rehabilitation Center in Middletown.

A native of Mercer County, Kenneth was born May 1, 1921 son of the late Mattie Gritton and Leonard Sanford Cornish. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Carter Cornish, sister Ruby Covert and brother Earl Barnett Jr., Harrodsburg.

He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kenneth was a graduate of Fairview School, served in the U. S. Army in the Pacific during World War II and was a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines where he met Sarah. They married on January 26, 1952. After working for Central Uniform in Louisville, he and Sarah opened Redbud Camper Sales which they operated until their retirement in 1995. Following retirement, they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and spending winters in Florida. Kenneth was a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church, Lawrenceburg, and Boaz Masonic Lodge #850, Louisville.

Visitation will be Monday, 4:30-8 p.m., at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, KY. Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home by Dr. Mike Hamrick, with burial to follow at the Lawrenceburg Cemetery with military honors.

Serving as Casket Bearers are nephews Mike Barnett, Kevin Burgin, Steve Burgin, Nathan Sangster, Nathanael Sangster, Eric Simpson and friends Mike Goad and Roy Hawthorne.
