Charles Edward Locke, 89 of Louisville passed away Dec. 5, 2017.

He was born on Jan. 1, 1928, was a graduate of Manual High School, attended U of L as a member of the 1948 football team and Tau Kappa Epsilon. As a Navy veteran he served aboard the USS Helena and also the Naval Reserve.

Charles was a Kentucky Colonel and a Mason, and served various service organizations including the Kentucky Lung Association (President) and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. After working as a chief chemist for the Louisville Health Dept., he was a furniture manufacturers' representative specializing in the institutional and medical fields, working closely with the state governments of Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.

His favorite moments were spent as a 60 plus member of South Park Country Club and on Barren Lake with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Chris and Edna Locke and wife LaVerne Locke. Survivors include his sister Ree Karibo (Lou), step brother James Shaw, children Marilynne Rowland (John), Chris Locke and Debbie Leonard (Mark), 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral service 11 AM Wednesday, Dec. 13, Nunnelley Funeral Home, 4327 Taylor Blvd. with entombment at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, Dec. 12.
