Matthew Brooks Senn

Louisville - 91, died on Friday September 28, 2018.

Brooks was born in Louisville, Kentucky on May 9, 1927, to Matt and Clara Senn. He was a graduate of Male High School, the University of Illinois, and Harvard Law School. He was a World War II Navy Veteran who repaired damaged ships at Guam Island. Upon returning to Louisville, he practiced law for almost 50 years representing corporate and banking clients, including the Kentucky Bankers Association and numerous of its member banks. Brooks greatly enjoyed reading, classical music, travelling, gardening, building furniture and other crafts.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Alice McElroy Thurman Senn. He is survived by his only child, M. Thurman Senn, his daughter-in-law, Robyn Sattich Senn, and his only granddaughter, Allison Ray Senn, as well as a brother, James B. Senn, and numerous other relatives.

Brooks volunteered throughout his life including serving as the Mayor of Audubon Park, a Trustee of the St. Joseph Catholic Orphan Society, a member of the Parish Council of the Cathedral of the Assumption, an Overseer of Spaulding University, and a Board member of the Friends of the UofL School of Music. He was a Life Fellow of the Kentucky Bar Foundation, a member of the Male High School Alumni Hall of Fame, and a Paul Harris Fellow. He would thank his caregivers at Sunrise of Louisville for assisting him during his gallant fight with Alzheimer's. He was a fine man who lived a good life.

Funeral services will be celebrated 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home; 3800 Bardstown Road, with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, from 4 - 8 p.m. Ratterman's.
