PARTLOW, GEORGE, 88, of Louisville, died September 30, 2013 at his residence in Rolling Fields.

Mr. Partlow is a native of Arlington, MA, born in Boston December 1, 1924. He retired as head of the bond department and executive vice-president in the securities department for J.J.B. Hilliard, W.L. Lyons, Inc.

His death is preceded by his parents, Robert Baker and Margaret Burdick Partlow, Sr.; and brother, Robert Baker Partlow, Jr.; and grandson, Christopher Duffy.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Barbara Tway Partlow; two daughters, Kathleen Partlow (Barry Barker) and Maria Partlow (John Hines); two stepsons, Wm. Temple Beam, Jr., (Monette) and Robert L Beam (Heather); granddaughter, Mia Partlow (Michael Hoerger); and great-grandson, Aiden Duffy.

Mr. Partlow is a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy (1943) and Dartmouth College (1950), Summa Cum Laude. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy (1943-1946) as an engineering officer and assistant cargo officer retiring as a commander. After his military service, he worked in New York for the W.R. Grace & Co. He moved to Louisville in 1952 serving in the investment department as a security analyst of The Kentucky Trust. Afterwards, he was employed as an assistant to the president of the Peerless Insurance Company of Keene, NH. In 1957, Mr. Partlow made his final move to Louisville working for Hilliard-Lyons, Inc. He was a member of the Harmony Landing CC, Pendennis Club, Louisville Boat Club, and St. Andrews Club (Florida). George enjoyed his retirement spending winters in Florida, playing golf, watching his sports including his beloved Atlanta Braves and thoroughbreds.

A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Frances of Rome Church, 2119 Payne St., followed by a burial at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pearson's 149 Breckinridge Lane Memorial gifts or expression of sympathy may be directed to one's personal charity.
