Charles "Mack" Johnson Jr. Obituary
CLARKSVILLE - Johnson, Charles "Mack" Jr., 82, died Thursday, May 1, 2014.

Born on July 5, 1931 in Marion, VA to Edna Handy and Charles Johnson, he was the oldest of four children, Buddy, Carol and David.

Mack joined the US Marine Corps at age 19. He served in the Korean War under the 1st Tank Battalion Charlie Company driving an M46 and Sherman Tank. He has always been very proud of the service to his country. On December 3, 1956, Mack married Mary Lou Hoge. He worked for C.I. Whiten Transfer as a long-haul truck driver from 1958 - 1989. Besides being able to travel all over the United States together, they spent a lot of their time going to their grandchildren's sporting events. They were inseparable during the 56 years of their marriage.

Mack will always be known for his constant smile, his love of his family and the ability to fix almost anything! He is survived by two sons, Charles (Mackie) Johnson III (Connie) of Mooresville, NC and John Johnson (Karen) of Carmel, IN; a sister, Carol Smith, Marion VA; a brother, David Johnson, Marietta GA; and five grandchildren, Kyle, Tim, Kevin Matthew and Eric Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

Burial and graveside services will be held at Walnut Ridge Cemetery on May 9, 2014, 11:30 a.m. Chapman Funeral Home, Clarksville is handling the arrangements.
