Francis Raymond Hubbard Jr. Obituary
HUBBARD, FRANCIS RAYMOND JR., 91, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at his home.

Ray was a native of Bridgeport, CT and relocated to Louisville with the General Electric Co., He was manager of drafting and reproductions and managed several different engineering positions at Appliance Park, Home Laundry, Bldg. 1 for 42 1/2 years. He has been retired for the past 29 years. Ray was also an instructor of engineering drawing at the University of Louisville.

Ray was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Highland Post 201 and was a founding, lifelong member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Ray was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and past President of the GE Quarter Century Club.

At the age of 15, Ray competed with several other contestants and won the "Major Bowes Amateur Hour" over the Columbia network in New York City.

He loved all sports; fishing, golf and tennis, which he played into his early eighties. His favorite baseball team was the New York Yankees.

Among those who preceded him in death were his first wife, Rita Smallwood Hubbard; parents, Irene and Francis Raymond Hubbard, Sr.; daughters, Eileen Greenwell and Catherine Hubbard; and sisters, Irene Murphy and Nancy Piorek.

Ray is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Helen Quaack; son, Francis R. Hubbard III (Sharon); daughter, Barbara Ray Pusey (Paul); stepdaughters, Monica Kayse and Melinda Vessels (Dale); son-in-law, Donald Greenwell; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and brother, James Hubbard.

His funeral Mass is 10a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is 2-8pm Thursday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road.
