Doris T. Hardy Obituary
Doris T. Hardy
Loving mother, grandmother,

and great-grandmother

CHELMSFORD -- Doris Theresa (Petros) Hardy, 82, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2013, at D'Youville Senior Care Center, with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Asa W. Hardy who passed away in 1999.

Doris was born in Lowell on October 10, 1931, a daughter of the late James K. and Nora (Roddy) Petros. She was educated in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1949. Doris continued her education and training at Burdette Business College in Boston.

She married Asa Hardy on December 7, 1952, and together they shared 47 years of marriage and raised two sons. Doris was a communicant of the Parish of St. Rita for many years.

Doris enjoyed a 30 plus year career as a secretary with Joan Fabrics Corp. of Lowell.

Family and friends were the core of Doris' life. She was the matriarch who would gather everyone to her home, especially around the holidays. As the last living daughter of Lebanese immigrants, Doris felt it was her duty to teach the next generation of her family, her daughters-in-law and her grandchildren, the family recipes and the secrets to old country Lebanese cooking.

Doris was a fantastic cook and hostess. Christmas Eve was especially important in her home, as family and friends would all gather for food, company, and card games.

Doris loved spending time with her friends playing Bingo and cards. Foxwoods was a favorite destination of Doris'. Along with her husband, Asa, Doris traveled to Bermuda, the Caribbean, Atlantic City, and to Florida to visit with her family.

As a grandmother, she spent countless hours attending her grandchildren's sporting events, especially Allie's Softball tournaments, Christine's Soccer Games, and Timmy's Baseball games. As a great-grandmother she was a baby magnet and would always be seen holding, nurturing, and loving her little ones.

Surviving Doris are her two sons and their families; William A. Hardy and his wife, Kathleen (Neylon) Hardy of Tyngsboro, formerly of Chelmsford, and Michael P. Hardy and his wife, Barbara (McManus) Hardy of Townsend; three grandchildren, Dr. Christine (Hardy) Brown and her husband, Timothy of Groton, Allison Hardy of Townsend, and Timothy Hardy of Waltham; two great-grandchildren, Claire Brown and Emma Brown; two brothers, Joseph Petros of Naples, FL, and Harry Petros and his wife, Joan (Leclair) Petros of Nashua, NH. Doris leaves many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, including all of her friends at the Choice Center in North Chelmsford, and all of her Bingo friends.

Doris was the sister of the late James, Madeline, George, Frederick, and Thomas Petros, and the

sister-in-law of the late Madeline (Elie) Petros and Blanche (McMahon) Petros.

Mrs. Hardy's Family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at D'Youville for the exceptional care Doris received while she was with them.
