Frederick William Wilhelmy (72) of Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at his home on August 14, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Derby, Connecticut on September 15, 1945, he was the third child of Frederick and Helena (Lucas) Wilhelmy.

He graduated from Lowell High School and Upsala College. He attained a Masters Degree in Education at the University of Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in the United States and Germany. He taught in Littleton, Massachusetts and Montreal, Canada and then became a Director at the Massachusetts Department of Employment Security where he worked for many years. Retirement enabled longer periods for him to pursue his passion for travel and cruises. He had acquired a record of more than 600 days at sea aboard the Silversea and his various travels had taken him to over 154 countries around the world.

This kind, gentle man is survived by his husband, Van E. Priest; sisters Judith Wilhelmy & Dr. Joan Hanor; her husband, Hugh Pendleton; niece Renee Hodes, her husband Stefan and their children Angelina and Ronan. His cousins Kathryn and Richard Brodeur and his best friend David Taylor were very special to him. In addition he leaves many cousins and many friends who shared his love and had the privilege of knowing him. There wasn't a person he met whom he did not touch with his kindness and affection.
