Loving wife, sister, aunt and friend

CHELMSFORD - Gail L. (Johnston) Temple, 81, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was the beloved wife of the late Allen H. Temple for 23 years until his death in 1978 from pancreatic cancer at 44 years of age.

She was born in Lowell on November 23, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Ernest M. and DesNeiges B. (Levasseur) Johnston.

During the years, Gail was employed by Green 5 & 10, Raytheon, the Chelmsford Drive-In, J. M. Fields, Dennis Office Supply and Boise Cascade where she was head of accounts payable for 26 years until her retirement. Among her many interests, Gail enjoyed her family, gambling, reading, traveling and keeping her family and friends in line with her fiesty nature.

Gail is survived by her daughters, Donna Forcier and her husband Gregory, Susan Scali and her husband Tony, and Lisa Cutrumbes and her husband David, her grandchildren; Jason Howarth and his wife Megan, Ryan Howarth and his wife Kathleen, Sarah Eliopoulos and her husband Philip, Stacy Cutrumbes, and David Cutrumbes and his wife Stephanie. She also leaves her great-grandchildren; Jayson Howarth, Kaydence Howarth, Jayda Howarth, Nathan Howarth, Zoey Oliver, Lexi Howarth, Scarlett Eliopoulos, Jack Cutrumbes, and baby Eliopoulos, who is due in August, her brother Miles Johnston and his wife Ellen, and many nieces, nephews and close lifelong friends. Gail was predeceased by her companion later in life, Bob Hines. Gail's family wishes to thank her Oncology Doctors at both Lowell General Hospital and Brigham & Women's Hospital, her Chemo Nurse, Julie, and the staff at High Pointe House for the care they gave her in her final weeks.

TEMPLE - Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 - 7 pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. Her Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 10 o'clock on Tuesday followed by interment in Edson Cemetery, LOWELL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the , 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 (cancer.org) or the High Pointe Hospice House, 360 North Ave., Haverhill, MA 01830.
