Michael Eliopoulos Obituary

Michael P. Eliopoulos; 71
of Chelmsford

CHELMSFORD -- Michael P. Eliopoulos, of a well known Chelmsford and Lowell family, passed away at home on March 20th with his loving wife and children by his side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

A private funeral service was held at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell.

A graduate of Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, Boston, he was a practicing pharmacist for many years with his brother's at their pharmacy, the Nabnasset Pharmacy in Westford. Those who remember him there appreciated his kindness, generosity and helpfulness and his endearing smile and warm greeting. He pursued a very successful career in real estate, starting as the co-founder of Heritage Real Estate in Westford with his brother-in-law and working with him on several successful commercial developments. He later established his own successful commercial real estate company.

The youngest son of Peter and Adiamandia Eliopoulos, Michael is survived by his loving wife, Antoinette (Papulis) Eliopoulos, and by three loving and devoted children, Dr. Dina A. Eliopoulos and her husband, Dr. Sebastian Sepulveda and their children, Sebastian Michael and Isabella Ann, by Attorney Philip M. Eliopoulos and his wife, Sarah, and by Attorney Angelique M. Eliopoulos and her fiancé, Pin-Bo Tsai. He is also survived by his brothers, Daniel Eliopoulos, of Lowell, George Eliopoulos and his fiancée, Ellen (Papulis) Simorellis, of Chelmsford, Dr. John Eliopoulos and his wife, Betty of Swampscott; and by his sisters, Stella Kokinacis, Debbie Zouzas and her husband, Samuel, Regina Dabilis and her husband, Arthur, and by sisters Sylvia, Ethel, Christine and Helen Eliopoulos, all of Chelmsford. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Charles Georgenes of Jamaica Plain; his sister-in-law, Olga Eliopoulos of Westford; and by many loving nieces and nephews, all of who adored him and will always cherish his memory.

He was predeceased by his oldest brother Angelo, of Westford, his sister, Evelyn Georgenes, of Jamaica Plain, his brother-in-law, Harry Kokinacis, of Lowell, and his sister-in-law, Rosemary (Cox) Eliopoulos of Lowell.

Michael was dedicated to the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, where he was a leader in parish affairs for many years. He served on the Parish Counsel and was co-chairman of the Capital Campaign Committee that planned the construction of the church's Family Life Center, which opened in June of 2003. He was also the recipient of the parish's prestigious Ministry Award for outstanding service to the church and its parishioners, bestowed on him by the Archdiocese in 2012. He always gave selflessly of his time and talents to his Lord whom he deeply loved.

Michael's true passion was spending time with his family. His greatest joys were in sharing with others his family's various accomplishments and experiences in life. He was totally devoted to all of them, and would do anything humanly possible to help make their lives better. He loved to travel and spend time with his family at his summer home in Maine. He adored his wife Antoinette, and their loving children, Dina, Philip and Angelique, and they in turn deeply loved and cherished him.

He was a person who will always be remembered as a truly extraordinary human being. Always honest, and of outstanding and unwavering integrity, he was generous to a fault. He treated everyone with respect and decency regardless of their age or status. He impressed everyone who knew him as a caring and loving person who worried more about the well-being of others than he did about his own.

A loving devoted and exemplary husband, father, grandfather, brother, and brother-in-law, he will be deeply missed, and his memory will be forever treasured by his family and friends, and by anyone who was fortunate to have met him over the years of his all too brief life. May his memory be ever eternal.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To The Eliopoulos Family, My thoughts and Prayers are with you. Mike will be forever missed, but always dear to my heart. He is great man who did so much. I will always remember our days in Westford and his stops for the morning newspaper on his way to Skip's. I admired Mike so much as pharmacist, businessman and a great people person.
