TYNGSBORO -- Wilbur "Bill" C. Farrow, 98, of Tyngsboro, died Friday, September 5th, 2014, at Heritage Skilled Nursing Center in Lowell surrounded by his loving family.

He was the beloved husband of the late Helen M. (Bell) Farrow who died on August 11, 2013.

Born in Westford, MA, August 26, 1916, he was the son of the late Charles F. and the late Clara (Lake) Farrow.

A veteran of World War II, Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Ship's Cook, Second Class and was the recipient of the WW II Victory Medal and the American Theatre Medal.

Bill was the former owner and operator of Shurfine Market in Tyngsboro from 1947 to 1983. He was the butcher behind the meat counter who greeted his customers wearing his signature straw hat.

Among his many enjoyments, Bill was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his yard. He was a former member of the Ancient York Masonic Lodge in Lowell.

After retirement, he spent approximately 30 years in Lillian, AL where he was an active member of the Lillian United Methodist Church.

Bill is survived by a daughter, Nancy Deeney and her husband, John of Nashua, NH, and Naples, FL; two sons, Charles F. Farrow and his wife, Tootsie of Lillian, AL, and Wayne A. Farrow and his wife, Sharyn of Westford, MA; six grandchildren Charles W. Farrow and his wife Kris Gines of Carlisle, MA, Chester Farrow of Tyngsboro, MA, Carla Christman of Groton, MA, Carin Denommee and her husband, Guy of Tyngsboro, MA, Stacey Farrar and her husband, Roger of Merrimack, NH and Pamela Hardy and her husband Jason of Westford, MA; 11 great-grandchildren, Audrie Stefanini and her husband Mark of Framingham, MA, Samantha and Amanda Farrow of Tyngsboro, MA, Jordan and Davis Farrow of Carlisle, MA, Tyler and Drew Denommee of Tyngsboro, MA, Ashley and Courtney Farrar of Merrimack, NH and Mason and Miranda Hardy of Westford, MA; a sister, June Duff of Warrington, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also brother of the late Iona Wyman and the late Hazel Trask.

FARROW -- In Lowell, Sept. 5, 2014, at Heritage Nursing, Wilbur "Bill" C. Farrow, husband of the late Helen M. (Bell) Farrow.

Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon on Saturday immediately followed by a Memorial Service in the Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Thompson Burying Ground, in Tyngsboro. The family requests in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his memory to Tyngsboro Historical Commission, 25 Bryants Lane, Tyngsboro, MA 01879.
