The sad news came to me by way of WKAR-FM Radio today: Alan was evidently a reader with the Talking Books service and classical music host Jody Knol mentioned the loss on-air during the early afternoon. I was stopped in my tracks by this news. Very sorry to hear this good and generous person (who enjoyed singing!) is now lost to the world. He will live on in your hearts. The picture you picked suits him perfectly - an unending smile. Bless you all.

Judy, please know of my sincerest sympathies on the loss of your so dearly cherished husband. His obituary helped me to know what an amazing man he was....and, in your heart and memories he will always be. Will be sending hugs and support during all the difficult days to come....

We were both so sorry to hear about Uncle Alan's passing, but also glad to know he's not suffering anymore. I remember the first time I met him--right before me and Hugh got married--and how kind he was to me. How much he made me laugh and relax, even as there were others there who were amping up the stress and my dress had not even arrived yet (the day before!). He was one of the bright lights that made things better, and from what you describe, that was just the tiniest tip of the iceberg. I'm so sorry for your loss, and for the loss to the world at large. You all are an amazing legacy, and that spirit that he had (and Aunt Judy still has) resonates through you all and spreads wherever you go.
Hugh and I both send our love.

The world is a little darker now. Such a giving person, there aren't enough adjectives to describe all that Alan was to his family, friends and community. I consider myself lucky and honored to have known Alan and the Labovitz family. My heart and thoughts are with you all.
