Eric Douglas Swink

Eric Douglas Swink Houston, TX Eric Douglas Swink, age 21 of Houston, Texas passed away unexpectedly on May 24th. He was born November 26, 1991 in Houston to loving parents, Rodger and Lorrie Swink. Eric graduated from Memorial High School in 2010 where he played football on the Varsity football team for two years. He was currently attending Louisiana State University on a merit scholarship where he was an international finance student. He was an active member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, where he served as an officer. While attending college, he also worked as security for Bogies in Baton Rouge and was looking forward to his upcoming internship with the United Bank of Switzerland this summer. Eric was an avid fisherman and placed in the 2003 CCA Star tournament for the largest sheepshead. There are many wonderful things that can describe Eric, the most important being his warm, loving sense of integrity. He would always be there to "cover the back" of whoever needed it. Eric made everyone he met a better person, simply by knowing him; no one would know that better than his lifelong best friend, Michael Chapman. In tribute to Eric's dog "BC", Eric and his brother Ryan would demonstrate their love for their dog by singing "Build Me Up Buttercup". He is survived by his parents, Rodger and Lorrie Swink of Houston; his brother Ryan Swink of Washington DC and grandmother Ann Swink of Lansing, Michigan; aunts and uncles, Dave and Anne Swink, Greg and Bev Swink, Terry and Ernie Drawert, Debbie and Ed Kully and Abby Hardy; cousins, Nathan and Gennifer Kully, Eddy and Chrissy O'Brien and their children Danny and Tommy, Danny Ashley Hardy, Matt and Kimmi Swink, Michael, Daniel and Casey Swink, Bethany and Madyson McPhee. Eric is preceded in death by his grandfather, Rodger Swink Sr. of Lansing, Michigan; grandparents, Joseph and Nell Inkles of Little Rock, Arkansas as well as his cherished aunt, Robin Baltzer of Houston, Texas. A graveside Rite of Committal will be held Friday, May 31, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Delta Center Cemetery, Eaton Co., Delta Twp., Michigan with Father Pieter van Rooyan of the St. Gerard Parish, officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 30, 2013, 6-8:00 p.m. at the Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, Grand Ledge and Friday at the graveside from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the committal at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of the usual remembrances, donations can be made to: The Eric Swink Memorial Oak Tree Fund.
