Donna Dunlap Obituary
Okemos - Donna Masterton Dunlap, age 68, of Okemos, passed away on September 30th, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy Masterton, and nephew, Dan Masterton. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 37 years, Ken; daughter, Amanda (Peter Kahn); brother, Ted Masterton (Maryann), nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Donna was a graduate of Saginaw Arthur Hill High School (Class of '68) and Michigan State University (B.A. '72, M.A. '74).
Donna's greatest passion was her career as a teacher. She taught for two years at Maple Valley High School in Vermontville, Michigan before embarking on her 33-year tenure with Okemos Public Schools. During this time, she touched countless lives with her infectious enthusiasm for Language Arts and inspired many of her students to become teachers themselves.
Her dedication to her students was rivaled only by her devotion as a wife and mother, her steadfast love for her friends, and her unwavering outspokenness on behalf of those without a voice.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Meridian Senior Center at Chippewa Middle School in Okemos on Wednesday, October 3rd from 7-9 p.m. All are welcome to attend and share cherished memories of Donna.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions in her name to the Okemos Education Foundation or Planned Parenthood.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss to your family and Donna's community. I sang Let it be at Donna's wedding and am happy to know you two shared so many years together. I was among her first students in her first year at Okemos and she remained fond of our class right through graduation year, where I also performed a song she had asked me to write for the occasion.
